Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has highlighted Ghana’s technological advancements, stating that countries like the US and UK lack an electronic national identification card comparable to Ghana’s.
Speaking to NPP supporters in Yendi, Northern Region, Dr Bawumia emphasized the benefits of the Ghana card, stating that it can be used in place of a passport in countries like Saudi Arabia, China, and the US for flight boarding. Additionally, the Ghana card can serve as a replacement for a passport when misplaced.
Moreover, Dr Bawumia mentioned that students can now secure loans using the Ghana card without the need for guarantors, as the Ghana card now acts as their guarantor. Ghana has also achieved mobile money interoperability, allowing seamless money transfer between different networks and platforms, which was not possible in the past.
Furthermore, Dr Bawumia highlighted Ghana’s global leadership in medical drone delivery services. Despite initial skepticism, the successful implementation of using drones for medicine delivery is a testament to Ghana’s technological progress. Dr Bawumia also pointed out the NPP’s achievements in areas such as free senior high school, reinstating trainee allowances, and extensive road construction.
Looking ahead to the upcoming December elections, Dr Bawumia emphasized that the contest is between him and John Mahama, urging voters to consider Mahama’s track record.
He criticized Mahama for his handling of teacher and nursing trainee allowances, as well as the mismanagement of the SADA project. Dr Bawumia urged voters to assess the candidates’ performances and make informed decisions on who is deserving of leadership.
