Kumawood star Kwaku Manu slams Education Minister for comparing Akufo-Addo to Kwame Nkrumah

In a recent video that has gone viral on social media, popular Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu expressed his disappointment with comments made by Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, comparing President Akufo-Addo to Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Dr. Prempeh had stated that no president in Ghana’s history has contributed more to the country’s development than President Akufo-Addo. This statement did not sit well with Kwaku Manu, who vehemently defended the legacy and achievements of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

“Kufuor may have achieved certain milestones during his presidency, but he never dared to compare himself to Kwame Nkrumah. Nkrumah’s impact on Ghana is unparalleled. He established a shoe factory that was functional, built the Tema Harbour, initiated projects like the production of car tyres, and played a pivotal role in gaining independence for Ghana,” Kwaku Manu stated in the video.

The actor questioned how any current government could equate their achievements to those of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, emphasizing that Nkrumah’s contributions to the country went beyond mere rhetoric.

Many Ghanaians have shared Kwaku Manu’s sentiments on social media, with some describing Dr. Prempeh’s comparison as “way below the belt.” The debate continues as to whether President Akufo-Addo’s administration can truly be likened to the groundbreaking legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
