Tennis champion and professional player Tanya Okpala, from Nigeria, has garnered sympathy on social media after being spotted wandering the streets of Awka, destitute, since the early 1990s.
As previously mentioned, there is evidence that members of the Nigerian half-caste participated for their nation in female tennis competitions in the 1990s. She was noted to have performed very well and has achieved goals and decorations that are known to be exceptional.
But everyone seemed surprised to see her out on the streets, and even more unexpectedly, so did her admirers and Nigerians as a whole. Sad.
Meanwhile, it was noted that a fellow who spotted her in the street interviewed her and she rambled on about how she had been rejected by the entire society, which looked at her for being a half-caste.
Moreover, she was also reported to have been pleading for food, begging, and, quite honestly, asking for money to buy herself a bottle of water.
One unidentified witness claimed that Tanya had a straightforward disposition and was down to earth. She proceeded to say that Tanya was one of the ladies in society who humbled herself and gave respect to even the young and the old, despite her furtherance in achievements.
