The tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor John Pope Odonwodo has finally come to a close as the remaining three victims have been found by the Anambra State Police Command.
The incident occurred while the actors were on their way to a filming location, leading to reports of their drowning after their boat capsized.
Following the mishap, three individuals were reported missing, but now, two of the victims were discovered on Thursday, with the final body washed ashore by the tide on Friday morning. The bodies have since been deposited in a morgue in Asaba.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police public relations officer, released a statement confirming the recovery of the victims and emphasized the importance of caution when crossing rivers.
The commissioner of police, Aderemi Adeoye, stressed the need for water commuters to prioritize safety and avoid actions that could endanger themselves and others while on transit.
He assured an expedited investigation into the accident that claimed the lives of five actors and commended the marine unit and its commander for their dedication to duty.
