THE sisters of Nicole Brown Simpson have spoken out about the death of OJ Simpson, the man they say wreaked havoc on their family.
Simpson died on April 11 following a battle with cancer. He was 76.
OJ Simpson went on trial in January 1995 for the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.
The sisters of Nicole Brown Simpson (left to right), Tanya Brown, Denise Brown, and Dominique Brown shared their emotions about the disgraced footballer’s passing over a month after his death.
“It’s very complicated,” Dominique, 59, told People. “This is a person who’s been in our life for a very long time, who wreaked havoc on our family. It’s like the end of a chapter,” Tanya, 54, added.
Denis and Dominique recalled their initial encounters with Simpson when Nicole Brown Simpson was just introducing him as her boyfriend back in 1977.
They remembered traveling to upstate New York to watch Simpson play for the Buffalo Bills and being impressed by his skill on the field. However, his abusive behavior soon came to light, causing chaos in the family.
“All hell broke loose when we came home that night,” Denise remembered. Simpson’s hostility increased when Nicole got pregnant, with him calling her derogatory names like a “fat pig.”
OJ Simpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February and passed away on April 11 in a Las Vegas hospital. The reactions to his death from those close to him have been mixed, with some showing indifference while others expressed relief or a melancholic reminder of the lives lost.
The well-known former NFL star might have left a controversial legacy behind, but his death led some to reflect on the trials and tribulations of his life, including the infamous double murder trial that captivated the nation over two decades ago.
