Nick Pope was born in Soham, Cambridgeshire, and went to King’s School in neighboring Ely. He began his career at the club’s youth set-up at the age of 10 and stayed with Ipswich until he was released at the age of 16.

He was released by Ipswich Town after being released by Bury Town in 2008.

Josh made his debut for Mildenhall as a member of their under-18 side and went on to play over 500 times for the Recreation Way-based club at various levels.

Pope, however, left after 50 appearances in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division championship and League Challenge Cup triumph in 2016/17.

During the summer of 2017, he returned to the goal for one pre-season friendly against St Neots Town. However, he finally joined Soham Town Rangers.

Pope, the younger brother of England and Burnley goalkeeper Nick, had an immediate impact at Julius Martin Lane, winning multiple club accolades and finally being named captain by player-boss Robbie Mason.
