The National Identification Authority (NIA) has implemented new fees for registration services starting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
This adjustment will affect citizens obtaining or updating their national identification cards, commonly known as Ghana cards.
According to the NIA, the revision of the fees is in line with the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provision Regulations) 2023 (L.I. 2481).
The purpose of this fee adjustment is to ensure that the NIA can continue to provide efficient services to the public while also covering the costs of its operations.
Under the new fee structure, first-time registration for the Ghana card at the premium center will cost GHS310, while the service is free at the district office. Additionally, the replacement of a Ghana card will cost GHS420 at the premium center and GHS125 at the regional or district office.
The NIA emphasized the importance of these fees in maintaining the security and reliability of the Ghana card. By implementing these adjustments, the NIA aims to strengthen and fund its critical operations.
Citizens who wish to obtain national identification cards or update their information are advised to take note of these new fees. The NIA has provided a notice outlining the updated fees for easy reference.
