The CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, has revealed an innovative new initiative that will allow Ghanaians to receive free medical checkups on their birthdays at any health facility.
This groundbreaking program is designed to shift the focus towards preventive care and reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Ghana. Dr. Aboagye shared in a recent media interview that the committee in charge of implementing this initiative is in the final stages of engaging with stakeholders.
According to Dr. Aboagye, the NHIA has worked tirelessly to streamline their processes in order to make this initiative a reality. He emphasized that this initiative demonstrates NHIA’s dedication to improving access to healthcare services for all Ghanaians and promoting proactive health management strategies.
By offering free medical checkups on birthdays, NHIA aims to empower individuals to take control of their health and address any potential health issues early on. Dr. Aboagye expressed his excitement for the imminent launch of this program, stating, “we have really worked hard to ensure this intervention is actually implemented at the earliest possible time.”
He added, “So, for me, that will be good news and it will revolutionize our healthcare architecture in such a way that we will reduce some of these diseases and non-communicable diseases.” This initiative is poised to transform the healthcare landscape in Ghana and enhance the overall well-being of its citizens.
