
American former football coach and sportscaster John Madden, real name John Earl Madden, has kicked the bucket. He passed away on Tuesday, December 28, aged 85.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced John Madden’s demise on Tuesday evening in a press statement.
“Nobody loved football more than Coach. He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others,” Roger Goodell said the statement.

He added: “There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today.”
The cause of John Madden death is immediately unknown.
As head coach of the Oakland Raiders, John Madden won Super Bowl XI over the Minnesota Vikings.
He became a well-known color commentator for NFL telecasts following his retirement from coaching.
