As part of his ongoing conflict with Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the transportation of undocumented immigrants to the Big Apple, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has dispatched a fact-finding team to the southern border.
The group from Adams’ office visited with Border Patrol agents on Tuesday in Eagle Pass, Texas, along the Rio Grande, where many migrants enter the country daily in their hundreds.
Adams’ office issued a statement in which it said Abbott’s office was unresponsive and had made a political spectacle out of the issue.
Members of the team have been dispatched on a fact-finding expedition to speak with people directly along the southern border and obtain the genuine information we are unable to obtain from Texas officials.
According to Press Secretary Fabian, This includes whether or not they are sending asylum seekers to New York City or if the asylum seekers would prefer to go elsewhere.
