Italian banker and politician Nerio Nesi passed away at the age of 98. The founding members’ meeting on February 2 confirmed his appointment as honorary president.

He left the Italian Communist Party on April 15, 2004, and joined the Italian Democratic Socialists, who also took part in the socialist unification movement. In the XIV legislature, he served as Vice President of the “Commission Environment, Land and Public Works”.
