On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) colleague, Silvester Tetteh, came close to blows in parliament over an unpaid loan.
Tetteh, the MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, attempted to make pleasantries with his colleague, Agyapong, when the latter became enraged for no apparent reason.
But before things got out of hand, the Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, stepped in and whisked Mr Tetteh out of the chamber.
Although the incident occurred on the blind side of the first Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu, who was presiding, and the two did not speak into the microphone, it drew the attention of journalists and those in the public gallery.
Graphic Online later discovered that Tetteh owed Mr. Agyapong money, and when the Assin Central MP confronted him, Tetteh allegedly told him to take him to court, which apparently infuriated Mr. Agyapong, prompting an angry reaction.
