The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has committed to addressing a petition submitted by over 40 constituency women organizers to the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC). The petition accused the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, of misconduct.
Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the party, assured that the concerns raised in the petition would be thoroughly examined. He emphasized the party’s serious approach to such allegations, promising not to cover them up and to follow due processes.
The petition alleged that Ashie Moore had exhibited aggressive behavior and made threats of assault against prominent women in the party. The urgency of the situation was emphasized by the women organizers, highlighting the significance of the Greater Accra Region in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Speaking on Citi FM, Mr. Gbande reaffirmed that the party has internal mechanisms in place to address such issues effectively. He stated that the party would conduct a thorough investigation to uphold its integrity and unity.
The women organizers stressed the need to address Ashie Moore’s behavior to enable the women’s wing of the party to carry out its responsibilities confidently and contribute to the party’s success in the upcoming elections. The party’s commitment to dealing with internal conflicts was underscored by Mr. Gbande, assuring that appropriate actions would be taken to maintain harmony within the NDC.
