For the September UEFA Nations League games, France has recalled Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona and Olivier Giroud of AC Milan.
On the 22nd and 25th, respectively, Didier Deschamps’ team will play Austria and Denmark in League A Group 1, where they are winless.
Les Bleus have welcomed Dembele back to the team for the first time in more than a year ahead of the defense of their World Cup title. The attacker has two goals and four assists through seven games this season for Barcelona.
Giroud, who has four goals in eight games to start the 2022–23 season for Scudetto holders AC Milan, is back after being left off the team in June.
Three uncapped players have been given call-ups by Deschamps for the games in September, including Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt and the Monaco duo of Benoit Badiashile and Youssouf Fofana.
The absence of Presnel Kimpembe, Karim Benzema, Lucas Hernandez, Paul Pogba, and N’Golo Kante from the roster reflects the ailments that have plagued Les Bleus.
