The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, has clarified that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), holds no animosity towards Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
During his introduction in Kumasi, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, drew comparisons between President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s accomplishments and those of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He boldly claimed that no president, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has uplifted Ghana as President Akufo-Addo has.
However, Professor Nyarko emphasized the need for Ghanaians to concentrate on the potential positive impact NAPO could bring. He encouraged citizens to focus on the contributions he can make to the NPP in securing victory and breaking the cycle of two-term presidencies.
The NPP MP described Mr. Opoku Prempeh as a valuable asset and stressed the importance of NAPO in the nation, urging him to consider the advice of Otumfuo.
“Ghanaians should pardon him as he holds no ill will towards Nkrumah,” Mr. Nyarko added. He expressed confidence that NAPO would reflect on his statements and address any concerns raised.
“Let’s concentrate on his achievements in the Ministry and the potential impact he can have in the future,” he concluded.
