On Monday, January 29, 2024, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) found many tramadol tablets and capsules at the Tema Port.
1,035,000 tramadol tablets and capsules totaling 4,734.38 kg in net weight were found.
5,000 royal tablets, or 51 cartons weighing 225 mg, 6,000 capsules of Timaking, or 90 cartons weighing 120 mg, and 6,000 capsules of Tramadol, or 40 cartons weighing 120 mg, were among the tramadol capsule and tablet varieties found, according to a statement released by NACOC on Tuesday.
It further stated that the activity was a component of the Commission’s mandate regarding the inspections of containers carried out at the Tema Port.
According to NACOC, the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) would be receiving the seized shipment from the Commission for additional examination.
It gave the people confidence that it was dedicated to reducing the threat posed by drug trafficking.
The Commission also reminded the public that it is against the law and subject to punishment under sections 40 (1) and 41 (1) of Act 1019 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act 2020 to possess and transport illicit narcotics without a valid permit from an organization that has been authorized by law.
