The terrifying experience his mother had only two weeks before her scheduled participation in the Guinness World Records chew-a-thon has been made public by Ghanaian artist Ogidi Brown.

Though she had practiced chewing for two weeks before the event, Artiste Maame, as she is affectionately known, could only last seven hours of the seven-day chew-a-thon before encountering difficulties. It was reported that she had problems related to excessive blood sugar.

Ogidi Brown claims that on January 5, his birthday, his mother was unconscious and on the verge of passing away.

Ogidi disclosed that his mother suddenly had low blood pressure and blood sugar, which resulted in her passing out. He remembered how his mother was stabilized by an ambulance after he screamed for assistance.

Despite being sick during the chew-a-thon, Artiste Maame was able to keep Ghanaians entertained for the full seven hours.
