My government will support persons with disabilities with free tertiary education – Bawumia announces

The Vice President and NPP 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has made a significant announcement regarding a policy intervention for persons with disabilities.

During a meeting with the Clergy in Sefwhi Wiawso, Western North Region, Dr. Bawumia revealed that if elected President in December, his government would provide free access to tertiary education for all persons with disabilities.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities, stating, “I believe that persons with disabilities, we need to support them a bit more.” He went on to explain that funds allocated for scholarships and the GETFUND would be used to cover tuition and accommodation costs for persons with disabilities who are accepted into universities.

The Vice President expressed his personal commitment to assisting vulnerable members of society, noting that it brings him joy. As the Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, Dr. Bawumia has been actively involved in activities supporting the vulnerable, and he assured that his government would prioritize providing broader support for persons with disabilities and vulnerable individuals.
