The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to release the full KPMG report on the deal between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited.

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, questioned why the president has kept the report in his office and only released certain parts of it.

During a press conference on Monday, Gyamfi raised concerns about the lack of transparency and wondered if the president had something to hide by withholding the full report. He criticized the payments made by the government to SML under what he described as unlawful transactions, totaling over GH¢1 billion, leading to a significant financial loss for the state.

Gyamfi expressed disappointment at the government’s decision to allow SML to continue providing their downstream petroleum audit services, despite the questionable nature of the contracts. He accused the ruling New Patriotic Party of abetting crime and attempting to cover up the scandal.

The NDC demanded the immediate termination of all illegal contracts with SML, the retrieval of payments made under these contracts, the publication of the full KPMG report, and the prosecution of those involved in the corrupt deals. They emphasized their commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and value for money in government procurements.

Moving forward, the NDC vowed to launch investigations into the SML scandal and ensure accountability for those responsible. They highlighted the importance of holding individuals involved in corruption accountable, regardless of their political affiliations. Gyamfi signed off the press statement, reiterating the party’s commitment to upholding the interests of the Ghanaian people and fighting against corruption within the government.
