Ghanaian highlife and Afro beats artist, Mr Drew, has come out to strongly deny allegations that he failed to perform at the JamRock Event Center’s Easter Dance Party as previously claimed by the event organizers.
In a press release following the accusations made by JamRock Event Center on April 15, Mr Drew stated that the claims were completely false. According to the event organizer, Mr Drew had agreed to perform at the concert but backed out at the last minute despite receiving partial payment.
However, Mr Drew clarified that the organizers did not adhere to the payment agreement stipulated in their contract. The agreement required the organizers to pay the remaining 50% of his performance fee on the day of the event before his scheduled performance. Despite not fulfilling this obligation, the organizers still expected him to perform at the event, which was not in line with the initial agreement.
In response to the claims made against him, Mr Drew’s legal team has demanded a retraction from JamRock Event Center regarding the defamatory statements. They are prepared to take legal action if necessary to rectify the situation.
Meanwhile, Jamrock Bar and Event Center has taken the matter to court, seeking damages of GHC200,000 from Mr Drew and DJ Filter. The plaintiff alleges that the artiste and his DJ did not show up to perform at a scheduled event on Easter Monday despite receiving partial payment of GHC15,000.
The suit, filed at the Senchi District Court on April 15, 2024, demands the recovery of the initial payment made to Mr Drew and additional compensation for the full expenses of the event, totaling GHC36,511. The legal battle between Mr Drew and Jamrock Bar and Event Center is ongoing, with both parties standing firm on their respective claims.
