To hold races in Saudi Arabia, MotoGP has signed a memorandum of understanding.

A future Saudi Arabian race will be place on a recently built, multi-purpose track, according to Dorna, the sport’s commercial rights holder, however they did not specify where.

Since 2004, MotoGP has competed in the area, with a floodlit night grand prix in Qatar.
As part of a 15-year agreement, Saudi Arabia made its Formula One debut in December of last year.

Extreme E, Formula E, and the yearly Dakar Rally are also held there.

The Gulf country is one of the nations charged with funding sport and using high-profile competitions to “sports wash” its image abroad.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton reiterated his plea for an improvement in their human rights record in March, the day before the nation’s second-ever Formula One event.
Similar worries were raised when a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund bought Premier League club Newcastle United last year.
