The mother of a 15-year-old Form One student at Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) has begged the police to expedite their investigations into her allegations of being gang-raped by six graduating students to guarantee that justice is done.
The police in Bechem, Tano South Municipality, Ahafo Region, started a manhunt for the other three suspects who are still avoiding capture after they arrested three of them.
Osman, Emmanuel Ankama, and Agyem Frimpong, the accused, have been placed under arrest.
Kyeremaa Hamida, a final-year female student who helped the accused commit the crime, was another accomplice and is being detained by the police to aid in their investigation.
As per Ghana News Agency (GNA), the tragedy happened on Saturday, February 10 at approximately 21:30 hours.
Complicated Hamida is accused of luring the naive victim (name withheld) to an abandoned building near her hostel, where the suspects sexually assaulted her in a group.
A reliable source at the Bechem Police Station confirmed the report and stated that the accused had not yet been charged in court.
The victim’s mother, Victoria Otu, begged for justice to be done in an interview with the GNA, saying that her daughter’s health has gotten worse.
“The school administration called to let me know about the incident, and we must now pursue justice for our child,” the woman said.
The GNA was able to read a medical report from the Duayaw-Nkwanta St. John of God Catholic Hospital, which attested to the victim’s rape.
The victim told the GNA about her encounter, claiming that suspect Hamida approached her in bed and demanded to “see her outside.”
