Renowned Ghanaian actress Akofa Edjeani is advocating for creatives and personalities in the entertainment industry to consider venturing into politics.

According to her, this move will enable them to lobby for more government support for the creative arts sector.

In a recent interview, Akofa Edjeani emphasized the need for individuals in the creative industry to take a proactive approach in advocating for policies and initiatives that will benefit the sector.

She expressed her belief that it is time for Ghanaian creatives to actively participate in politics with the intention of supporting and advancing the creative industry.

“It is high time we, as creatives, take a bold step and delve into politics. We have been passive for too long, and it is essential that we actively engage in the political sphere to advocate for the support that the creative arts sector desperately needs,” Akofa Edjeani stated.

The veteran actress highlighted the lack of government support for the industry and stressed the importance of industry players taking action to address this issue.

She urged creatives to consider entering politics as a means of effecting positive change and ensuring that the needs of the creative arts sector are adequately met.

Akofa Edjeani’s remarks come at a time when several personalities in the entertainment industry have publicly declared their affiliations to political parties and expressed their intentions to contest in upcoming elections.

Notable figures such as John Dumelo, Baaba Sadiq, Fred Nuamah, and KOD have already made political moves, with some vying for parliamentary seats.

While John Dumelo and Baaba Sadiq are gearing up to contest for MP seats in the upcoming elections, Fred Nuamah has also expressed his affiliation with a political party and plans to contest for a parliamentary seat in the future.

These developments signal a growing interest among creatives to actively participate in the political landscape and advocate for policies that will benefit the creative industry.

Akofa Edjeani’s advocacy underscores the importance of creatives leveraging their influence and platform to bring about positive change in the political arena.

As the industry continues to evolve, the involvement of creatives in politics could potentially pave the way for greater government support and recognition of the contributions of the creative arts sector to the socio-cultural fabric of Ghana.
