Pele, a legendary Brazilian footballer, passed away at 82. CNN misrepresented the three-time World Cup champion on television.

The legendary Brazilian served as an inspiration for former Ghanaian international Abedi Pele.

Abedi Pele’s passing was accidentally reported by the American news outlet Cable News Network using his photograph. Pele, a three-time World Cup champion, passed away on December 29, 2022, at the age of 22.

Many people turned to their television after hearing the tragic news of Pele’s passing, only to see Abedi Pele’s picture being identified as the deceased Pele.

Many offended people responded on social media by correcting the news broadcaster for their error.

Abedi Pele, who adopted the legendary Brazilian athlete’s second name, is still alive.

World Sports earlier reported that tributes to the great Brazilian football icon Pele, who passed away on December 29, 2022, have been made on a number of social media platforms.
