American boxing referee Mills Lane was born on November 12, 1937, and he also participated in fights. Lane was conceived on November 12, 1937, in Savannah, Georgia.

He came from a well-known family in Georgia. His grandpa created Georgia’s biggest bank, and his namesake uncle was president of Citizens and Southern National Bank.

Lane was a student at Concord, Massachusetts’ Middlesex School. He represented Middlesex School as a linebacker in both ice hockey and American football. At the University of Nevada, Reno, Lane enrolled. In 1963, he earned a business degree. In 1956, Lane enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and in 1959, he received an honourable discharge.

He served two terms as a district court judge in Washoe County, Nevada, and was well-known on television. Lane began boxing while serving in the Marine Corps and went on to win the All-Far East welterweight championship. Lane earned his law degree from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1970. He became a Nevada bar member. In 1982, Lane was appointed to the position of the district attorney. In 1990, he was chosen to be a district judge.
