The Marine Corps confirmed Thursday that all five Marines on board an Osprey were killed after the plane crashed in a remote section of California on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Maj. Mason Englehart of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the MV-22 Osprey went down in a desolate location near Glamis, California. Around 12:25 p.m. local time, the plane crashed.

The identity of the service personnel will not be revealed until their next-of-kin has been notified, according to the military.
Officials added that equipment recovery attempts have begun and that an investigation is underway.
“Contrary to initial claims, there was no nuclear material on board the aircraft,” Naval Air Facility El Centro said earlier.
Glamis is a small town in Imperial County, roughly 50 miles north of the border between the United States and Mexico.
According to Englehart, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, while the Osprey is based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton.
Both are in the San Diego County area.
The cause of the accident was unknown.
