Michelle Rodriguez was born on July 12, 1978, in San Antonio, Texas, to Carmen Milady Rodriguez and Rafael Rodriguez. Her mother, is of Dominican descent, while her father, who is of Puerto Rican descent, served in the U.S. Army.
She has 10 siblings and half-siblings. Growing up she was partly raised by her devoutly religious maternal grandmother and was taught the faith of the Jehovah’s Witness, which is her mother’s religion.
She and her mother relocated to the Dominican Republic when she was eight years old, where they remained until she was eleven. She then later moved to Puerto Rico and remained there until she was 17 years old before deciding to return to the United States and settle in Jersey City, New Jersey.
There, she attended William L. Dickinson High School, but later dropped out and earned her GED.
