From 2014 to 2020, Sir Michael David Rawlins GBE FBPhS FMedSci, a British clinical pharmacologist, served as the chairman of UK Biobank, and from March 1941 until January 2023, he served as the chair of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
In addition to serving as president of the Royal Society of Medicine from 2012 to 2014, he served as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) chair from 1999 to 2013.
How did Michael Rawlins die?
The Royal Society of Medicine’s current president, Professor Roger Kirby, announced the death of Michael Rawlings but didn’t really make known what caused his death. He said:
“We are extremely sorry to announce the demise of our dearly loved and esteemed colleague, Professor Sir Michael Rawlins. His loss will be felt deeply throughout the medical and scientific communities he served over his distinguished career. He was a medical hero, an extraordinary scholar, and a man of tremendous character”.
