Michael Lerner parents: Meet George Lerner, Blanche Lerner

The late actor was the son of Blanche and George Lerner; his father “pretended to be an antique dealer, but in reality, he was a garbage trader,” according to Lerner. He grew up in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and Solon, Ohio. Ken, his younger brother, and his nephew Sam and niece Jenny are also actors.

Meanwhile, Lerner acquired a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley after graduating from Brooklyn College, where he studied acting.

Lerner wanted to be an actor even though his then-wife thought he should be an English professor; he got a Fulbright Scholarship to study theatre in London for two years at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He shared a flat with Yoko Ono and John Lennon while there.
