Michael Chiarello dies aged 61: Cause of death
On October 6, 2023, Michael Chiarello passed away at the age of 61. His company Gruppo Chiarello stated in a statement that he passed away at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California, after being admitted to the hospital for an allergic reaction that resulted in anaphylactic shock.

Coqueta, an establishment serving tapas, and Bottega, a restaurant serving Italian cuisine, both of which have locations in San Francisco and Napa Valley, respectively, were owned by Chiarello.
He also owned NapaStyle in Yountville, which closed on January 4, 2016, and carried a variety of high-end drinkware, serverware, and designer tabletop items.
After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America, Chiarello founded his first restaurant, Toby’s, in Miami at the age of 22, according to his official website.
He established himself in the culinary world with a distinctive approach that blended the traditions of his Southern Italian ancestry with the cuisine of Napa Valley’s wine area.
