The Met Gala is the most anticipated fashion event of the year, bringing together celebrities, athletes, and designers for a night of glamour and fundraising.
This invite-only event takes place every first Monday of May with a new theme announced each year.
In 2024, the Met Gala will focus on The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
Approximately 250 objects spanning four centuries will be on display, all unified by nature-inspired iconography representing the fragility and ephemerality of fashion.
Guests are expected to adhere to the theme of “The Garden of Time,” drawing inspiration from JG Ballard’s 1962 short story.
Ensembles embellished with florals and vibrant colors will be a common sight on the red carpet, paying homage to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.
This year’s co-chairs include Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, and Jennifer Lopez, with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour leading the event.
The Met Gala will premiere on May 6, 2024, with the red carpet event starting at 6 pm ET on Vogue’s website, hosted by Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham.
E! will also broadcast the event on their cable channel, with streaming options available for those without cable.
