Melody Walker was a journalist who mostly wrote for NPR. She was based in Paris from 1981 to 1987, where she covered everything from terrorist bombings to the Cannes Film Festival and French politics.
She mostly reported for NPR, although she also appeared on Deutsche Welle and Radio France on a regular basis.
Walker, a Barnard College alumnus, was proficient in French and used that ability to give listeners a profound cultural sense of France. She died on Friday 4th March 2022.
