Mahut grew up in Greece after being born in Toronto, Canada. Her father is a Canadian Quebecois, and her mother is Greek.
She studied at the National Theatre of Greece Drama School before moving on to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). In 2012, she received her BA in Acting from RADA.

Alongside Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams, and Dan Stevens, she portrayed the Greek Eurovision contender Mita Xenakis in the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga in 2020.
