Melissa Lou Etheridge is a singer, songwriter, musician, and guitarist from the United States. Etheridge was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, as the younger of two daughters to computer consultant Elizabeth (Williamson) and John Etheridge, an American Constitution teacher at her alma mater, Leavenworth High School. John Etheridge passed away in August 1991.
Never Enough, Etheridge’s third album, was released in 1992. Similar to her prior two albums, Never Enough didn’t reach the top of the charts peaking at #21 but gave Etheridge her first Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female for her single “Ain’t It Heavy”.
At the time, Never Enough was regarded as Etheridge’s more personal and mature album. With rumors about her sexuality circulating (Etheridge had not yet come out), the album appeared to inadvertently address these rumors.
