It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tony McPhee, the singer, and guitarist for The Groundhogs, at the age of 79.
Tony passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2023, following complications from a fall he suffered last year.
A true guitar and blues legend, Tony McPhee leaves behind a rich musical legacy that has influenced and touched the hearts of many.

Tony McPhee’s contributions to the music world cannot be understated. He led The Groundhogs for over six decades, earning three UK top 10 albums and supporting the Rolling Stones on tour.
His unique playing style and soulful performances made him a true inspiration to aspiring musicians.
Beyond his musical accomplishments, Tony was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife Joanna, their sons Conan and Vincent, grandchildren Scarlett and Victor, and his sister Olive.
Conan and Vincent have also taken the footpaths of their dad and are also doing music full time.
His impact will forever be felt in the hearts of his fans, who took to social media to express their grief and gratitude.
