Jim Thorpe was born in Indian Territory near the town of Prague, Oklahoma and south of Bellemont, Pottawatomie County. His father was Hiram Thorpe and his mother was Charlotte Vieux.

Jim attended the Sac and Fox Indian Agency school in Stroud, Oklahoma, with his twin brother, Charlie. At the age of 16, he started attending the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Carlisle, PA. There his athletic ability was recognized and he was coached by Glenn Scobey “Pop” Warner, one of the most influential coaches of early American football history.

He competed in track and field, as well as football, baseball, lacrosse, and even ballroom dancing, winning the 1912 intercollegiate ballroom dancing championship, and was awarded All-American honors in both 1911 and 1912.

Though much is not known about her, she was born on December 23, 1898, in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri, USA. She is white and holds an American nationality and is a very good Christian. Her husband and herself are of the Roman Catholic faith.

Patricia Askew’s cause of death was not revealed but lived for 76 years and died on April 6, 1975, in Hesperia, San Bernardino County, California, USA at the source of natural death.  She was buried in Green Hills Memorial Park, at Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
