Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a former general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will be the organization’s new chairman (NDC).
At the 2022 National Delegates Congress of the Party, held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Accra Sports Stadium, the 65-year-old politician triumphed by a landslide.
Provisional results show that Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, who resigned after serving as General Secretary for 17 years, received 5,574 votes, or 65.17 percent, to win.
With 2,892 votes, or 33.81 percent of the vote, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo fell short of Mr. Nketiah in the 10th National Delegates Congress of the NDC.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, resigned from his 17-year position as the NDC’s General Secretary in order to run for the chairperson position.

Before the election, he said goodbye to his members and pleaded with them to pardon any wrongdoings that may have come from his office as General Secretary.
“May the Lord touch the hearts of those I’ve offended to forgive me. The foot troops of this party share and are given credit for the accomplishments I have done thus far, the party firebrand declared on Saturday.
