When Cathy Scorsese went with her father Marty to the Lincoln Center opening night screening of his movie “Mean Streets” for the New York Film Festival, she was only 8 years old. It was 1973, according to Cathy, and she still clearly remembers their talk after the film ended outside the cinema.
Martin, Cathy’s father, knelt down next to her on the sidewalk so that they were face to face and inquired about the movie.
