Dorothy Mengering and Harry Joe Letterman are celebrity parents who happen to be the parents of Davis Letterman. They were supportive parents who supported their son’s career from day one of it.
The couple was married for more than three decades before parting ways. They tied the knot in 1942. They parted ways in 1973 when Harry Joe sadly passed away. Together, they welcomed three children including Davis who happens to be the only male child.
Their daughters are Gretchen Letterman and Janice Letterman.
Harry was the son of Frank Arastus Letterman and his wife Anna M. Devine Letterman. He was one of two children of his parents, hence, he has a sibling, a sister who has been identified as Wilma Jean Letterman Knowles.
He was born to his parents on April 15, 1915, in Linton, Greene County, Indiana, USA, but sadly passed away on February 13, 1973, in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at the age of 57.
Dorothy on the other hand was born in Linton, Indiana as the oldest child of Lena M. and Earl Jacob Hofert. She has two younger siblings; a brother, Earl Jr. (1922–2009), and a sister, Hazel (1923–2017).
She was born to her parents on July 18, 1921, but sadly passed away on April 11, 2017, in Carmel, Indiana, at the age of 95.
