Max Verstappen of Red Bull will start from the back of the grid for the Italian Grand Prix.
The driver in the lead of the championship is one of several who received a fine for using more power-unit components than was allowed at Monza.
Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and his teammate Sergio Perez, who was given a 10-place penalty, will both start at the back of the field.
Along with Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas and Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda will be in the back.
The session’s top time belonged to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who trailed Sainz by 0.077 seconds.
George Russell, a Mercedes driver, finished third, 0.279 seconds behind Leclerc but in front of Hamilton.
Verstappen, who was annoyed that Lando Norris of McLaren held him up on his flying lap while using soft tires, finished fifth fastest overall.
Before coming across the McLaren on the entry to Parabolica, Verstappen was on track to win the race and was 109 points clear of Leclerc in the championship.
Mercedes revealed Hamilton’s grid penalty on Thursday; the governing body, the FIA, disclosed the other infractions at the start of Friday practice. At a later time, the specifics of the penalty will be announced.
