The Ghanaian business community is mourning the loss of a trailblazing leader, Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh (nee Dumor). The late Trebarh passed away on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, after a period of illness.

Born on April 12, 1971, Mawuena Adzo Trebarh made history as the first female CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). She also made her mark as the first female underground exploration geologist in the Ashanti Region, working alongside a predominantly male workforce.

Trebarh’s accomplishments extended beyond the business world, as she also became the first female Board Chairperson of Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Ghana. With experience in both the private and public sectors, she was a respected figure in Ghana’s corporate landscape.

In addition to her professional achievements, Trebarh played a pivotal role in the political arena. In 2020, she was appointed as the deputy spokesperson for the John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Election 2020 Campaign. She also served as the spokesperson and Head of communications for the office of the vice-presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Trebarh is survived by her husband, Flight Lieutenant Divine Trebah (Rtd), her daughter, brother, and father, Prof. Ernest Dumor. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and details of the funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

The legacy of Mawuena Trebarh will be remembered for breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of women in business and leadership roles. May she rest in peace.
