Mauro Morelli was born on September 17, 1935, in Avanhandava, State of São Paulo, Brazil. His whole life he has dedicated his life to service as a Catholic Priest. His priesthood began when he was ordained on April 28, 1965, and served for nine years.
Mauro Morelli was then appointed as the auxiliary bishop of São Paulo, and Titular Bishop of Vatarba on December 12, 1974, where he first demonstrated his commitment to public service and the upliftment of the underprivileged. His tenure was marked by his deep engagement with the community, a trait that would later define his leadership in Duque de Caxias.
On January 25, 1975, Mauro Morelli was Ordained as Titular Bishop of Vatarba, after serving as a bishop for six years, he was appointed as Bishop of Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 25, 1981. He retired at the age of 69 on March 30, 2005.
