One of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Matthew Perry has sadly passed away.
Following his unexpected death on Saturday, October 28, Matthew Perry’s body has been released by the Los Angeles County coroner to his family for funeral arrangements.
This follows the revelation that the cause of his death—apparent drowning at the age of 54—is still under investigation.
He was reportedly found to be unresponsive after emergency personnel responded to calls regarding a potential cardiac arrest.
Earlier in the day, the actor had played pickleball for two hours and sent his assistant on an errand. It was reported that they discovered Perry unconscious in his hot tub when the assistant came back.
Upon their arrival, medical staff attempted a “water rescue” but were unable to revive the famous person, and he was pronounced deceased at his Los Angeles home.
Perry was discovered in a jacuzzi, according to sources cited by TMZ, which broke the story initially.
Notably, no drugs were found near his body, and there was no suspicion of foul play. The devastating statement that Perry’s family released read, “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother.”

UPDATE: The ‘Friends’ star’s body has been released after an autopsy to his family for his funeral and burial arrangements to be done. Perry’s body was released on October 31, 2023.
As of now, his family hasn’t released any statement to confirm his burial service date, time, and venue.
Even though Matthew Perry’s funeral date hasn’t been announced yet, his fans set up a memorial at the famous “Friends” location in New York City in his honour.
The memorial was set up outside of the West Village building which was used for exterior shots of the apartment where the show’s main characters lived, according to TMZ.
