The National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams placekicker Matt Gay was born on March 15, 1994. He played college football for Utah, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Gay was taken 145th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. When the Buccaneers faced the San Francisco 49ers in the first game of the regular season, Gay made his professional debut. He made one field goal and two extra points in the loss. Gay missed two field goals, and one extra point, and had an extra point blocked against the New York Giants on September 22, 2019.

Gay joined the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on September 15, 2020. On November 6, he was let go, but the following day, he was re-signed to the practice squad.

In order to fill in for injured kicker Kai Forbath, the Los Angeles Rams signed Gay off the practice squad of the Colts on November 17, 2020. Gay was a perfect 3 for 3 on extra-point tries and made two of his three field goal attempts, including the game-winning kick late in the fourth quarter, during Week 11’s 27-24 victory over his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on Monday Night Football.
