Nativity School in Worcester has been the subject of some major controversy between conservative Christians and liberals. Earlier in April, Robert J. McManus, the Bishop of the Diocese of Worcester, was very critical about the use of the Black Lives Matter flag and the LGBT flag by the school.

The Bishop noted that the two flags represented support for movements contrary to the beliefs of the Catholic church. According to a statement issued by the Bishop, “gay pride flags are often used to stand in contrast to consistent Catholic teaching that sacramental marriage is between a man and a woman.”

However, it appears the matter has since escalated with the school remaining defiant and with the office of the Bishop now effectively banning them from identifying itself as a Catholic school and from having any Mass or sacramentals on the school premises or anywhere else within his diocese.

Nativity School appears to be gearing itself up for an appeal and a legal battle and has reemphasized it has no plans of doing away with the flags.
