The State of Ghana is taking steps to bring back former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, to face justice for causing a financial loss of GHS90 million.
The Financial and Economic Court 2 of the Accra High Court recently sentenced Tamakloe to 10 years in prison for her role in the scandal, while the Director of Operations, Daniel Axim, received a 5-year sentence.
Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah confirmed that the extradition process has begun, stating, “We’ve started the processes and with this judgement, that is going to speed up the process.” He explained that laws govern the extradition process and assured that Tamakloe will be brought back to Ghana to face trial.
Tuah-Yeboah emphasized that the final judgement will expedite the extradition process, as accused individuals sometimes appeal the decision. He also mentioned that the prosecution has been instructed to seize the assets of the convicts, particularly Tamakloe, to recover the misappropriated funds.
