The former Shakers player and captain died in his lengthy fight with a brain tumor.

It is with the deepest sadness that I write this letter to inform you that Martyn has died away,” Lisa Forrest posted on her Facebook page. He was a wonderful father and a wonderful spouse. We shall miss you terribly.

“Not many people are aware that Martyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor after he passed out on the field at Radcliffe Borough back in 2008.

“In March 2022, we received the heartbreaking news that the treatment was no longer effective after having three brain surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy.

“After a few months of pain, he is finally at his final resting place, where he can watch over his two sons as they develop into incredible men.
