Marty Krofft siblings: Meet Sid Krofft

Sid and Marty Krofft are a Canadian sibling team of puppeteers and television creators who were born on July 30, 1929. The date of the wedding was April 9, 1937. Through their production company Sid & Marty Krofft Pictures, they created a number of children’s television and variety shows in the United States, particularly during the 1970s. Among the shows they produced were Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Land of the Lost, and H.R. Pufnstuf.

Their fanciful productions usually feature a large number of conceited puppets, ambitious storieslines, and inexpensive special effects. Their father, Peter, was a clock salesman who initially resided in Canada before moving to New York City and Providence, Rhode Island.

According to IMDb, Deanna co-produced two Nickelodeon series: the 2015 series Mutt & Stuff and the well-known 2016 revival of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.

In the 1940s, Sid developed and toured the globe with a one-man puppet show called “The Unusual Artistry of Sid Krofft.” Using his older brother’s puppets, Marty continued to stage shows in New York in an attempt to make money, and his father accompanied him on a tour of Paris.

After working together for a while in the 1950s, the Krofft brothers produced Les Poupées de Paris, a puppet show with more sophisticated themes, in 1957. One of their first TV experiences was the 1965 premiere of The Dean Martin Show.
