Martin Scorsese is renowned for his precise, gritty filmmaking technique and is regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. When Scorsese was just 8 years old, he was a tiny filmmaker with a passion for movies. He finished “Who’s That Knocking at My Door?”, his first full-length movie, in 1968, but it wasn’t until he released Taxi Driver almost ten years later that he shot to fame for his unvarnished approach to storytelling. With a long list of triumphs, including Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Departed, Hugo, and The Irishman, he demonstrated that the movie wasn’t an anomaly.

Born on  born November 17, 1942, Scorsese was brought up as a devoted Catholic and even considered becoming a priest before deciding to pursue filmmaking. Scorsese felt he was on the right track when a 10-minute comedy short gained him a $500 scholarship to New York University, despite the fact that his parents “didn’t grasp” his obsession with film.

Yes. His paternal grandparents, Francesco Paolo and Teresa Scozzese, immigrated from Polizzi Generosa, while his maternal grandparents, Martino and Domenica Cappa, immigrated from Ciminna, both of which are located in the province of Palermo, Sicily. Both of them were of Italian descent.
