Martin Amis, the son of author Kingsley Amis, was born in Oxford in 1949. Martin Amis attended schools in the UK, Spain, and the USA for his schooling, and he graduated with a First Class Honours in English from Exeter College in Oxford. Martin Amis, a renowned author, died at home after a battle with oesophageal cancer.

Amis, an Oxford native who wrote fifteen novels, including Money and London Fields, passed away at the age of 73. His beloved wife Isabel Fonseca revealed on Saturday, May 20, that he had succumbed to disease and had died at his Florida home.

With his distinctive prose, the novelist, who was twice nominated for the coveted Booker Prize, is credited with reinventing fiction in the UK. The Times named the novelist one of Britain’s greatest writers ever in a list that was published in 2008. The author garnered various awards over his career.

Mr. Amis also won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his 2000 book Experience. The Sunday Times, The Observer, the Times Literary Supplement, and the New York Times all published his brilliant essays over the years.
